I arrived on Arran one summer to conduct dive surveys as part of my MSc studies in what is now the South Arran Marine Protected Area. Over five years later, I’m still here – now working as the Outreach and Communications Manager for COAST.
Having seen first-hand the detrimental impacts unsustainable fishing activities have on our seas and their biodiversity, my belief was cemented that educating those who will utilise the oceans in the future is vital. Working for a close-knit, inspiring and determined organisation has afforded me that opportunity, allowing me to pursue a career I truly believe in. Through my work with schools, community groups and initiatives like SeaGazing, I hope to pass on my enthusiasm of marine conservation to people of all ages from all walks of life.
“The Community of Arran Seabed Trust (COAST) is a community-led organisation that has made a huge difference to the conservation and restoration of the seas around Arran and the Clyde for the past 25 years. We stand for a diverse, abundant and beautiful marine environment for everyone.”
